CI Elite E3-LCR v2: what is inside
The CI Elite E3-LCR v2 is the most compact of the three LCR models in the series: a column 814 mm tall and a little over 10 cm deep, to be used as left, centre or right. Either side of the tweeter sit two 139 mm mid-bass drivers, backed up lower down by two passive radiators of equal diameter. The handover is at 2.3 kHz with a third-order filter; on-axis response runs from 93 Hz to 22 kHz within ±3 dB, bass extension reaches 57 Hz and in-room sensitivity is 92 dB.
Unlike the open-backed models, this LCR has a shallow acoustic cabinet built in: it shelters the components, limits the sound leaking into neighbouring rooms and makes the result the same from one installation to the next, whatever the wall. The front baffle is machined from aluminium. A screen compensation switch corrects the response when the speaker is hidden behind a micro-perforated projection screen.
The diaphragms are those of the whole series: an AL-MAC dome (aluminium, magnesium and ceramic) behind the PPA lens for treble, AL-MAG cones with moulded-on ART surrounds for midrange and bass. The Shock-Mount system isolates the die-cast aluminium baskets from the baffle and the 38 mm voice coils take high power. The picture is completed by the frameless, paintable, micro-perforated magnetic grille and the nickel-plated sprung terminals for heavy cable or banana plugs.
