A round two-way in-ceiling loudspeaker, sold as a pair: a 19 mm tweeter with PPA lens and a 139 mm polypropylene mid-bass driver in a cut-out of just 172 mm, for background music and surround channels.
CI Home H55-R v2: small and easy to fit
The CI Home H55-R v2 is the smallest round model in the CI Home series, the range through which Paradigm brings its technologies to everyday installation work. It fits a hole 172 mm across, asks for 70 mm of depth behind the plasterboard and weighs 1.2 kg. The second-order crossover hands over at 3 kHz; on-axis response runs from 75 Hz to 20 kHz within ±2 dB, with bass extension to 60 Hz. In-room sensitivity is 88 dB and suitable amplifiers range from 15 to 70 W.
The 19 mm tweeter works behind the perforated PPA lens, which shields the dome and serves as a phase plug: it stops out-of-phase components and makes the treble more extended and even. Ferrofluid damps and cools it, helping it stay consistent across a broad listening area. The mid-bass driver has a mineral-loaded polypropylene cone moved by an oversized ferrite magnet, for detailed midrange and clean bass.
Chassis and clamps are rigid ABS: the clamps grip and stiffen the edge of the hole, reducing vibration and resonance, and tighten with TORX-guided screws that do not strip. Recessed screw seats keep the driver bit steady. The terminals take banana plugs, pins or bare wire. The frameless micro-perforated grille attaches with neodymium magnets, can be painted and looks the same as those of the CI Elite and CI Pro ranges. For new-build sites there is the optional PB-7RN bracket.
