CI Pro P65-RX v2: what is inside
The CI Pro P65-RX v2 is the RX variant of the 165 mm round model in the series: the Italian distributor lists it as a coaxial built-in speaker for use on boats, while the maker's own sheet gives it the same mechanics and figures as the ceiling model of equal size. That means a 197 mm opening, 92 mm minimum depth, 2.6 kg of weight and a room sensitivity of 91.5 dB, which allows decent volume even from small amplifiers, between 15 and 100 W.
The drivers are the ones that set this Canadian-built series apart. The tweeter has an AL-MAC dome (aluminium, magnesium and ceramic), a light, strong and naturally damped material, with the perforated PPA lens for protection and RED technology against diffraction. The woofer uses a CARBON-X cone, stiff and consistent from one sample to the next, with a long-throw voice coil and the patented ART surround moulded straight onto the cone, which yields 50% more output without distortion.
The structure gets as much care as the transducers: a rigid die-cast aluminium basket with integrated heat sink, to the benefit of power handling and dynamics, and Shock-Mount fixing that isolates it from the baffle. The flat polycarbonate rear cap does not warp and keeps debris away from the internal parts. The cable connects to nickel-plated sprung terminals with a wide hole; the frameless micro-perforated grille attaches with neodymium magnets.
