Premier 120B V2: how it is built
Paradigm positions Premier V2 as the way into high-end sound, aimed at listeners who want a clear step up from an ordinary system for both music and film. The 120B V2 is the entry model: a cabinet 30.5 cm tall and 17.8 cm wide, with its reflex port at the back, weighing 7.4 kg and at home on a stand or a shelf.
Treble comes from a 25 mm tweeter whose dome is made of AL-MAC ceramic, damped and cooled by ferrofluid. In front of the dome sit the OSW oblate-spheroid waveguide and the perforated PPA lens, which brings the output back into phase. The 140 mm mid/bass unit uses a very long-throw AL-MAG aluminium and magnesium cone, again behind a PPA lens, with third-generation ART, the Vertical Mounting System and a 25 mm multi-layer high-temperature voice coil wound on a vented Apical former.
The crossover is a second-order electro-acoustic design that hands over at 1.2 kHz. Quoted response runs from 62 Hz to 23 kHz within ±3 dB on axis and stops at 20 kHz when measured 30° off axis, with low-frequency extension of 39 Hz (DIN). Sensitivity is 90 dB in room and 87 dB anechoic, and the load is 8 ohm compatible: Paradigm suggests amplifiers of 15 to 130 W, with 70 W as the maximum input power.
