The Premier 220B V2 is the larger bookshelf speaker in the Premier V2 range: a ported two-way with a 152 mm mid/bass driver and a 25 mm ceramic-dome tweeter, sold as a pair for anyone after deeper bass without moving up to a floorstander.
Premier 220B V2: the design
Next to the smallest model in the range, the 220B V2 grows in every direction: 37.1 cm high, 21.1 cm wide and 32.8 cm deep, at 9.1 kg per speaker. The bigger enclosure and the 152 mm cone take bass extension down to 36 Hz (DIN), with a quoted on-axis response of 58 Hz to 23 kHz within ±3 dB; 30° off axis the upper limit is 20 kHz. The reflex port is on the rear panel.
The mid/bass unit is a very long-throw AL-MAG cone in aluminium and magnesium, covered by the perforated PPA lens that aligns phase. It uses third-generation ART together with the Vertical Mounting System, plus a 25 mm multi-layer voice coil built for high temperatures and wound on a vented Apical former. Above it sits the 25 mm tweeter, an AL-MAC ceramic dome with the OSW oblate-spheroid waveguide, its own PPA lens and ferrofluid for damping and cooling.
The two drivers meet at 1.1 kHz through a second-order electro-acoustic crossover. Sensitivity rises to 91 dB in room (88 dB anechoic) and the load stays 8 ohm compatible, so the 220B V2 makes no unusual demands on the amplifier: the maker quotes a range of 15 to 130 W, with a maximum input power of 80 W. The series is intended for stereo listening and home cinema alike.
