Perlisten S4b: compact Signature without simplification
Three-way acoustic-suspension bookshelf speaker with Signature DPC Array, 180 mm Textreme TPCD woofer and THX Dominus certification.
S4b is the most compact S-Series model but keeps the Signature core. Its Beryllium and Textreme TPCD DPC Array works with a single 180 mm woofer in a sealed enclosure. It can be used on a stand, shelf or wall for 2.1 stereo, LCR, surround or height duties.

The smallest S-Series model remains Signature
S4b reduces cabinet size and woofer count without adopting R-Series materials. The tweeter remains Beryllium, the two midrange domes are 28 mm Textreme TPCD and the 180 mm woofer uses the same composite. R4b instead uses 26 mm silk domes and a 165 mm HPF woofer, keeping the range hierarchy clear.
A sealed enclosure with different priorities
Unlike S7t, S5t and S5m, S4b operates only as acoustic suspension. Its woofer always works in a sealed volume, with no alternative reflex mode. The -10 dB response is 36 Hz-37 kHz and typical in-room extension reaches 30 Hz, impressive for the cabinet size while still making subwoofer integration a natural option.
The same DPC Array concept as larger models
The mid/high assembly follows the same Signature concept as the S family: central Beryllium tweeter, dual Textreme TPCD midrange domes and a waveguide lens controlling directivity. This preserves tonal consistency with larger towers and centres, useful when S4b serves as a surround, height or LCR channel.
From 2.1 stereo to multichannel cinema
S4b can anchor a compact stereo system with a subwoofer, but it is also designed for multichannel roles. Perlisten specifies LCR, surround and height applications when the deepest bass is handled by subs. Compared with S5m it has one woofer and lower sensitivity, but offers greater placement freedom.
Stand, shelf or wall installation
The product page gives cabinet dimensions of 240 x 420 x 300 mm as W x H x D and a weight of 11 kg. It can sit on a stand or shelf or mount on a wall by keyhole or optional bracket. For stereo and LCR use, DPC Array height deserves attention; as surround or height, controlled directivity helps manage off-axis energy.
Sensitivity, amplification and THX Dominus
Sensitivity is 85.4 dB, with a 4-ohm nominal and 3.2-ohm minimum impedance; recommended power is 50-300 W RMS. Perlisten states 111 dB peak output from 100 Hz to 20 kHz with distortion below 2%. THX Dominus certification confirms that compact dimensions do not confine S4b to secondary duties.
