Blu-ray Audio · Dolby Atmos · 5.1 Surround · Stereo
Steven Wilson's new mixes for the forty-fifth anniversary of Face Value, Phil Collins' first solo album.
The Blu-ray Audio carries the Dolby Atmos, 5.1 and stereo mixes Wilson made in 2026 and, next to them, the remastered original stereo mix, in 24-bit / 96 kHz PCM.
The story of the album
Released in February 1981, while Collins was still the drummer and singer of Genesis, Face Value was born after the end of his first marriage and co-produced with Hugh Padgham. It went to number one in the UK, number seven in the US and number eight in Italy, and has sold around twelve million copies.
The single "In the Air Tonight" reached number two in Britain and made its drum sound, with the "gated" reverb, famous. The record also features the Phenix Horns, the horn section of Earth, Wind & Fire, and Eric Clapton; "Behind the Lines", first cut with Genesis, returns as a funk number, and the album closes with a take on the Beatles' "Tomorrow Never Knows".
In the Dolby Atmos mix the drum entry of "In the Air Tonight" becomes a physical event, and the horns and keyboards open up in the space around the listener.
