Primare SC15 Prisma MK2: a network player and D/A converter with preamplifier functions
SC15 Prisma MK2 is a network player and D/A converter that also acts as a preamplifier. It brings together Prisma technology for streaming and control, automatic and manual equalisation of the speakers and the high-resolution WiSA wireless link. According to Primare it improves on the original SC15 Prisma in all performance parameters; the Auto Room and manual equalisation function is new to this MK2 version.
Conversion, built around the ESS ES9028Q2M chip, reaches PCM 384 kHz and DSD 256. The output is selectable: at fixed level the unit serves as a network player for an existing system, at variable level it drives two powered speakers directly. WiSA adds a further output towards compatible powered speakers and subwoofers; when the WiSA link is in use, the analog output can be set up for a wired subwoofer.

Streaming and control
Prisma handles stored and streamed music, in several rooms too, from the control app for mobile devices. It includes Chromecast built-in, Spotify Connect, Roon Ready, Bluetooth and AirPlay 2, along with voice control. Room equalisation is run from the Prisma application with an iOS device, or with the Zen microphone when Android is used: the speakers emit pink noise for 60 seconds as the microphone is moved about the room, then the system works out the compensation and applies a bass filter; the response can be touched up by hand. An RS232 port, a 12 V trigger with input and output and 3.5 mm IR sockets are fitted.
