A belt-drive turntable that plays upright, standing on furniture or hung on the wall, in the right-handed version. It comes out of the box already set up, with an 8.6-inch aluminium arm and an Ortofon OM 5E cartridge fitted.
VTE-R: how it works upright
The VTE-R is for anyone who wants a proper turntable without giving it a deep shelf. The vinyl plays standing up: a clamp presses it to the platter and the arm uses a mechanism designed to keep the stylus in the groove with the record vertical. Two mirror-image builds exist, and this one, marked R, is for people who use their right hand. The fittings for wall mounting come in the box.
Drive is by a silicone belt turned by a low-vibration synchronous motor, which takes DC from a separate power supply. The platter is MDF, measures 300 mm across and weighs 0.8 kg; the felt mat provided goes on top. The bearing is stainless steel and the arm is a straight, low-mass aluminium tube 8.6 inches long.
Setting up takes only a few moments, because tracking weight and anti-skating are adjusted at the factory for the Ortofon OM 5E. The RCA lead with gold-plated plugs is soldered straight to the deck and needs a phono input, as this model has no preamplifier inside. An adapter for 7-inch singles and an Allen key complete the kit.
