Bring music to life
Rega Elex MK4 is a stereo integrated amplifier delivering 72 W per channel into 8 ohms, with MM phono stage, Rega DAC, four line inputs and headphone output.
Elex MK4 combines traditional Rega Class A/B amplification with more complete connectivity than previous generations. The circuit delivers 72 W per channel into 8 ohms and 90 W into 6 ohms and is fed by a multi-stage linear power supply. The chassis has been redesigned to match the range and assist heat dissipation. The rear panel provides four line inputs, two digital inputs, MM phono stage, pre-out and record out, while the front panel carries the headphone output.

Class A/B amplification
The Elex board was redesigned to optimise the Class A/B power circuit and integration of the additional sections. The multi-stage linear power supply keeps the analogue and digital supplies separate, with galvanic isolation between the relevant sections. The signal path uses discrete circuitry, selected relays, capacitors of the polypropylene type and output transistors by Sanken, chosen for stability and signal control.
DAC and MM phono stage
The digital section derives from the Rega DAC-R platform and uses galvanically and optically isolated inputs, a Wolfson S/PDIF receiver and a Wolfson converter followed by a Rega-designed discrete line stage. The integrated MM phono stage uses RIAA equalisation split into two stages to reduce interaction between sections, with selected capacitors in the signal path and equalisation network.
Chassis, headphones and outputs
The custom chassis contributes to thermal management by using the whole structure as a heat sink. The headphone output is integrated so that loudspeaker switching is handled by the output mute relay, avoiding extra components in the main path when headphones are not connected. Pre-out and record out extend integration options with external power amplifiers, recorders or other system components.
Supplied accessories
The Mini System remote control is included for remote operation of the amplifier's functions.
