7.2 cinema where a full-height chassis will not fit
CINEMA 70s S2 is a slim 7.2-channel, 50 W AV amplifier with six HDMI inputs, HEOS and an upgraded DAC.
CINEMA 70s S2 places a 5.1.2 or 7.1 system in furniture that cannot accept a conventional AV amplifier. Series 2 retains seven 50 W channels and six HDMI inputs, three supporting 8K, with eARC output. HEOS integrates network music and multiroom use. The low chassis is the purchasing reason: it should not be chosen for the reserve of CINEMA 60 DAB S2, but where space, discretion and connectivity matter more than maximum sound pressure.
Key features
- Slim chassis, 7.2 channels at 50 W
- Six HDMI inputs, three 8K, eARC output
- Dolby Atmos and DTS:X
- HEOS, AirPlay and Bluetooth
- Upgraded eight-channel 32-bit DAC, optional Dirac Live
A lounge-sized 5.1.2
Two height channels complete compact Atmos, or all seven channels create ear-level 7.1. Fifty watts calls for suitable speakers, sensible distances and realistic expectations. A large room or difficult load favours the additional margin of CINEMA 60 DAB S2.
S2 changes where it matters
Series 2 has an upgraded high-performance DAC and supports Dirac Live as an optional room-correction system.
Three inputs for 8K sources
Half of the six HDMI inputs accepts 8K bandwidth. Demanding consoles and PCs belong on the correct three, leaving the others to set-top boxes and 4K sources. eARC lets television apps use the system without a separate audio cable.
HEOS without another box
The platform receives online services and network libraries, joins other zones and uses app control. A separate streamer is unnecessary for everyday use, though a dedicated source remains possible.
Who should look elsewhere
Four height speakers, more sub outputs or high levels point towards CINEMA 50 S2. Stereo with HDMI alone is simpler through STEREO 70s, which offers more power per channel. CINEMA 70s S2 exists to combine surround with reduced height.
