A compact AV centre for cinema, music and gaming
RX-V4A is a 5.2-channel Yamaha AV receiver with surround processing, MusicCast, next-generation HDMI and automatic YPAO™ calibration.
RX-V4A brings video management, multichannel amplification and network playback together in a single component. The five-channel configuration supports a surround system with two subwoofers, while MusicCast and wireless connections add streaming and multi-room audio alongside wired sources.
Key features
- 5.2 channels with 80 W per channel into 8 ohms, measured with two channels driven.

CINEMA DSP and surround
RX-V4A combines decoding of the main surround formats with CINEMA DSP 3D, Yamaha technology dedicated to reconstructing the sound field. The system works with the channel layout to create a coherent and enveloping scene, keeping dialogue, effects and soundtrack well integrated within the 5.2 configuration.
YPAO™ calibration
YPAO™ uses the supplied microphone to measure the installed system and automatically adjust speaker levels, distances and behaviour. The calibration takes the actual room into account and compensates for differences caused by positioning, making the transition of sound between the various channels more uniform.
HDMI and gaming functions
The four HDMI inputs and eARC output centralise consoles, players and the television. Support for 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120 Hz is joined by VRR and ALLM: variable refresh rate and low-latency mode are designed to keep response smoother and more immediate with compatible gaming sources.
MusicCast Surround
MusicCast integrates the receiver into Yamaha's multi-room ecosystem and also allows compatible wireless speakers to be used as rear channels through MusicCast Surround. This can reduce cabling across the room while keeping RX-V4A at the centre of source management and the surround system.
Streaming and network
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect make listening from a smartphone, tablet or home network immediate. MusicCast can manage content and distribute it to other compatible devices, allowing the AV receiver to serve as a central point for music throughout the home as well.
Amplification
The power section uses a high-slew-rate circuit to follow signal changes and transients. The 5.2 configuration leaves room for two subwoofers and allows a complete system to be built in spaces where a larger number of channels would be unnecessary or difficult to install.
