Stereo to take with you, with a charging base
Sonos Play is a portable stereo speaker with two tweeters, a mid-woofer and three class H amplifiers: 24 hours of battery life, IP67 protection, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, AirPlay 2 and a charging base included.
Sonos Play is compact enough to fit in one hand or in a backpack, and it has two tweeters that play in stereo. At home it connects to Wi-Fi and works with the rest of the Sonos system, in several rooms; away from home it switches to Bluetooth. When it is not in use it sits on its base, always charged.

Acoustics
The two tweeters face the sides and separate the left and right channels, while the mid-woofer reproduces vocals and adds depth to the bass. Three class H amplifiers are optimised for this architecture. The built-in microphones are used by Trueplay, which continuously adapts the sound to the place and the content, and by voice control; a switch on the back disconnects them. Bass and treble can be adjusted in the Sonos app.
Battery and charging
On one charge Sonos Play plays for a whole day, up to 24 hours. To recharge it, it is placed on the base; a USB-C Power Delivery adapter of at least 18 W is needed and is sold separately. The speaker's USB-C port can also power a phone while the music keeps playing. When the battery wears out it can be replaced, without replacing the speaker.
Resistance
The IP67 rating certifies protection against dust and immersion in water up to one metre for 30 minutes. The structure is designed to withstand drops, and the buttons control playback, volume, tracks and grouping.
At home and away
On the home network Sonos Play plays from streaming services, receives AirPlay 2 and can be grouped with other Sonos products. Over Bluetooth it pairs with its dedicated button, and away from home up to four speakers can be grouped for a more powerful sound. With the Line-In Adapter the USB-C port becomes an analogue input; the Combo Adapter adds a wired network connection.
Materials
For Sonos Play the company has used renewable plastics for the first time, derived from bio-based raw materials. The packaging is made from FSC-certified paper.
Included accessories
Sonos Play comes with the charging base, with a 2 metre cable. The USB-C power adapter, the Line-In Adapter and the Combo Adapter are sold separately.
