The Sonos that fits in a backpack
Sonos Roam 2 is a waterproof portable speaker weighing under half a kilo, with a tweeter, a mid-woofer and two class H amplifiers, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, AirPlay 2 and up to 10 hours of battery life.
Roam 2 is a light, rugged speaker made to leave the house. Outdoors it works as a regular Bluetooth speaker; back home, it connects to Wi-Fi and becomes part of the system again, together with the other Sonos products. It can stand upright, to take up less space, or lie flat, for greater stability, and in both cases it adjusts its sound automatically.

Acoustics
The tweeter handles the high frequencies and the mid-woofer reproduces the midrange while pushing the bass as far as possible; each has its own class H amplifier. With automatic Trueplay, which is switched on the first time in the Sonos app, the microphones sense the surroundings and the content being played and adapt the sound. Bass and treble can also be adjusted in the app.
Build and resistance
IP67 means protection against dust and immersion: Roam 2 can stay under water at a depth of one metre for 30 minutes. Sonos has tested it against splashes, sand, dirt, snow, sun and extreme temperatures; the outer materials cushion knocks and drops and the finish resists scratches. It weighs 430 grams and has a compact, ergonomic shape that slips into a bag or backpack.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
Over Bluetooth, Roam 2 receives music from phones, tablets and computers wherever you are. On the home Wi-Fi it plays from streaming services without depending on the distance from the phone, accepts AirPlay 2 and can be grouped with other Sonos speakers. Holding down the play button moves the music from Roam 2 to the nearest Sonos product, or the other way round.
Controls and battery
The buttons handle playback, volume, tracks and microphones, without being pressed by accident while the speaker is carried; a separate button switches the speaker on, off or into sleep mode to conserve battery. One charge lasts up to 10 hours of listening. It recharges through the USB-C port or without a cable, on a Qi wireless charger.
Version with charging set
The version with charging set includes, in addition to Roam 2, the Sonos wireless charger for Roam: the base on which the speaker recharges without plugging in the cable. The speaker is the same: only the supplied accessories change.
Included accessories
Roam 2 comes with a 1.2 metre USB-C to USB-C cable for charging. The USB-C power adapter is not included. The wireless charger is part of the charging set version only.
