A powered, ported subwoofer with a 210 mm long-throw driver: it adds the bottom octaves to the Cinema satellites and can be placed with either its gloss face or its cloth face uppermost.
Cinema Sub: what is inside
The Cinema Sub has an almost cubic cabinet, 34.1 cm high and 32.2 cm along each side, weighs 9.7 kg and holds one 210 mm driver. Its cone is a reinforced co-polymer, working with a suspension and magnet assembly designed to give it long travel without losing control. The enclosure is ported, with two resistive, high-velocity ports shaped to limit air turbulence and keep the response even and articulate.
The amplifier is built in and uses a discrete, high-current output stage; the Italian distributor quotes 100 W RMS and 300 W peak. It wakes up when a signal arrives, drops back to standby when idle and has a soft-clipping circuit that rounds off peaks beyond its limit. The panel lets you set the low-pass filter anywhere from 35 to 150 Hz, or bypass it altogether, and adjust phase relative to the satellites from 0° to 180°.
Quoted response runs from 42 to 150 Hz within ±3 dB, with bass extension to 32 Hz (DIN). The two RCA sockets accept either the left and right line outputs or the subwoofer or LFE output of an AV receiver, a processor or any other line-level source. The cabinet can sit in two ways, gloss surface on top or cloth on top with the feet fitted, depending on where it ends up in the room.
