Trinnov Amethyst Black is a high-end stereo preamplifier integrating digital conversion, network streaming, active crossover functions and Trinnov Optimizer room correction.
The platform handles twelve digital and analog sources, includes a HybriD phono stage, network and Wi-Fi connectivity, and D/A conversion up to 24-bit/192 kHz. Optimizer for stereo reproduction
Amethyst integrates Trinnov Optimizer for measuring and correcting loudspeaker and room response. The guided calibration procedure allows different presets to be created and the main acoustic parameters to be adjusted, while keeping system control within the same preamplifier.
Digital inputs and synchronization
Digital connectivity includes 4 S/PDIF inputs, two optical and two coaxial, 2 AES3 inputs on XLR, 2 coaxial S/PDIF outputs and 2 AES3 outputs. Word Clock input and output on BNC are also provided for synchronization with compatible digital sources and equipment.
Analog inputs and HybriD phono
The analog section provides 4 balanced XLR connectors, 4 unbalanced RCA connectors and one stereo RCA input switchable between phono and line. The MM phono stage uses Trinnov HybriD technology, while analog outputs include 4 balanced XLR and 4 unbalanced RCA connectors.
Conversion, processing and crossover
A/D conversion operates at 24-bit/96 kHz and D/A conversion at 24-bit/192 kHz. The 1.8 GHz Intel Dual-Core processor uses 64-bit floating-point processing; Amethyst also integrates an intelligent two-way active crossover engine for stereo configurations requiring separate band management.
Network streaming and control
The integrated Network Renderer enables playback from network audio sources and the system includes Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity. High-resolution sources up to 192 kHz are processed at their native sampling rate, without systematic conversion to lower sampling frequencies.
Finish, dimensions and power
This version uses the Black finish. The chassis measures 441 x 97 x 418 mm and weighs 9.4 kg; stated shipping weight is 14.9 kg. Power is selectable between 230 and 110 V at 50/60 Hz, stated consumption is 40 W and the standard warranty is 5 years.
