Eight matrixed zones for source distribution and calibration in large multi-room systems
Anthem MDX16 is a 16-channel matrixed multi-room amplifier for up to 8 zones, with 60 W into 8 ohms, 120 W into 4 ohms, 200 W bridged and ARC Genesis per zone.
MDX16 extends the MDX matrix platform to eight independent stereo zones for large homes, commercial installations and custom projects with many listening areas. Each zone can receive a different source, use its own subwoofer and have dedicated ARC Genesis calibration, while multiple units can be daisy-chained to expand the system further.
Key features

Eight zones for whole-home audio
The sixteen channels can power up to eight autonomous stereo zones. Each room can have a different volume, source and configuration, making MDX16 suitable for whole-home projects where many spaces are managed from a central rack rather than treated as channels of one home cinema system.
Matrix for analogue and digital sources
The matrix routes any compatible input to the required zone. RCA, coaxial and optical sources can therefore be shared between several rooms or assigned to specific areas, with digital switching designed to keep movement from one source to another fast and orderly.
ARC Genesis in every room
ARC Genesis is available separately for each of the eight zones. The system measures the acoustic response of the individual room and applies dedicated filters, so an open-plan space, bedroom or commercial area can be calibrated independently while remaining part of the same distributed installation.
Subwoofers and bass management by zone
Eight subwoofer outputs allow low-frequency extension only where it is needed. Level, crossover, phase and polarity can be managed by zone and integrated into ARC Genesis calibration, providing finer control than multi-room systems that treat every area in the same way.
Power, bridging and ALM
The sixteen channels deliver 60 W into 8 ohms and 120 W into 4 ohms, with bridge capability up to 200 W into 8 ohms. Advanced Load Monitoring supervises operating conditions, while the Ultra-Class-D platform maintains high efficiency when many channels are active simultaneously.
Expansion and automation
MDX16 is designed to grow with the installation: multiple units can be daisy-chained through digital links and analogue pass-through connections. Web interface, IP, RS-232 and drivers for Control4, Crestron, ELAN, RTI, Savant and URC simplify management of large distributed systems.
